Our Impact

Years of Transformation. A Future Rooted in Hope.

From Project Somos to Ütz B’ey Guatemala, we have been working in Aldea Chivarabal and the surrounding communities for 14 years. From the first step made by our founders Heather Knox and Greg Kemp, we pride ourselves on walking alongside Indigenous children and their families from early childhood to young adulthood. Our holistic, long-term model nurtures each child’s mind, body, and spirit, supporting them to grow up healthy, educated, confident, and proud of who they are.

Our Pillars of Holistic Support

Education that Changes Generations

From preschoolers learning their first letters to teens preparing for careers, our education programs have expanded, and continue to expand year after year to meet the children’s needs.

  • Daily programs for preschool, elementary, and middle school students.
  • A focus on trilingualism: Spanish, English, and Technology, ready to tackle the challenges of the modern day.
  • A library full of books and a literacy program.
  • English classes focused on speaking English with confidence.
  • Technology access and training to ensure no child is left behind in a digital world.
Nutrition, Agriculture & Vocational Training

We believe that well-fed children learn better, and that families flourish when they are empowered to grow their own food and skills.

  • An organic farm producing beans, quinoa, chia and kamut, plus more than 15 fruits and vegetables all year round.
  • Providing more than 24,000 meals, salads and snacks every year to the kids.
  • 10 young women graduated from our Cook Training Program, learning to prepare healthy, plant-based meals, including our head cook Norma España.
  • Programs that reduce food insecurity, household expenses, and malnutrition.
  • Four training sessions per year for parents, teaching them healthy eating habits for their family.
Health & Psychological Support

In many rural communities, access to healthcare, especially mental health, is extremely limited. We built a model that prioritizes both.

  • An onsite health clinic working with the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance serving over 1,000 residents in Aldea Chivarabal.
  • Monthly checkups, growth monitoring, and referrals for complex care.
  • Mental health support workshops focused on tackling complex themes the children and young adults face.
  • Workshops for parents on healthy discipline.
  • Girls’ and Boys’ Programs that build self-esteem, leadership, and healthy gender dynamics.
  • Our “Life Project” allows teens, in a safe space, to explore what their right path is for their future.

Join us on this Journey

Our name means Right Path. And that’s what we’ve built together. Not a quick fix, but a long-term journey of transformation, made possible by consistent care, strong community, and belief in what’s possible.

We walk with children from age 4 to 23, equipping them to grow into trilingual, tech-literate, grounded young adults, ready to thrive without losing who they are.

Thank you for helping us walk this path. We’re just getting started.
